SCL accreditation is the culmination of a long, thoughtful, prayerful, collaborative process. For decades, SCL has provided support and resources for the classical Christian school movement. The organization has provided extensive mentoring, coaching, consulting, and has shared best practices for leaders, teachers, and boards. However, as the movement has grown, the need for both clarity and structure has increased.Â
For schools to thrive, they need more than just a good definition of classical Christian education and a bank of available resources. Schools must be able to apply classical Christian principles to every aspect of the school, ranging from board governance to student discipleship. Accreditation provides an opportunity for schools to receive direction, structure, clarity, accountability, and support. It also allows SCL to formalize its engagement with schools, provide standards of excellence, assist in developing strong governance practices, assist with strategic vision, and instill an overall approach to school improvement that helps schools operate in healthy, sustainable ways. Ultimately, accreditation provides the opportunity for stronger partnerships between SCL and its member schools so they can thrive.
