STRINGS INSTRUCTOR | PART TIME | Atlanta, GA

Atlanta Classical Academy seeks a part-time Strings Instructor to teach string orchestra. Teachers are responsible for the education of their students and are expected to demonstrate high moral character and mastery of their subject. The Strings Instructor will work collaboratively with faculty and students to foster a love of music and develop technical proficiency through classical training.

This position currently teaches two sections of Elective Strings in the Upper School (grade 7-12), three after school classes for the Lower School, plus one 3rd grade survey semester. In support of string program goals, the successful applicant will also create and lead a variety of non-classroom rehearsals and performances. This part-time position is for the 2025-2026 school year and reports to the Fine Arts Director.

The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Adhere to the school’s mission and the principles of classical education.
  • Provide high-quality instruction in string instruments through group lessons.
  • Develop students’ technical skills, musical expression, and ensemble playing abilities.
  • Prepare students for performances, recitals, and school events as needed.
  • Collaborate with faculty to integrate music education with the broader classical curriculum.
  • Maintain a structured, disciplined, and inspiring learning environment.

Qualified candidates will meet the following requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Music Performance, Music Education, or a related field from an accredited college is required.
  • Previous teaching experience in classical string instruction is preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in performance of a string instrument, with experience teaching group heterogenous lessons.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience with classical education is preferred but not required.

About Atlanta Classical Academy:

Atlanta Classical Academy is an open-enrollment, public charter school open to students who reside within the Atlanta Public Schools district. The school opened in 2014 with grades K – 8, and has added a grade each year as students have advanced. It is now a K – 12 academy. The children of full-time employees have enrollment preference and would be offered a seat in the school.
