Description

The Garden Christian Academy is seeking qualified Instructional Aides for the 2024-25 school year. GCA’s Instructional Aides are men and women who’ve answered a call to serve God by assisting the classroom teacher to teach, train, and form the affections of their students. Each member of GCA’s are continuously trained in GCA’s distinct educational philosophy and teaching methodology. GCA Instructional Aides are faithful Christians in full agreement with GCA’s Statement of Faith, who live GCA’s Core Values and who embrace and embody the school’s mission to multiply the peace and wellbeing of the city through imago-dei education.

Responsibilities

  • Student shepherding
    • Collaborate with lead teachers to recognize issues students are facing and work together to find solutions, according to the school’s philosophy of shepherding, misbehavior, and discipline
    • Shepherding and incident reporting via SIS per workflow outlined by Head of School, generating records for school and parents/families
  • Assist lead teacher with documenting student academic progress
  • Assist lead teacher with preparation of materials 
  • Support cleanliness, order, and safety in the classroom and in the school environment as a whole
  • As needed, provide individualized instruction, directed and supported by the lead teacher
  • Support school culture by upholding and reinforcing behavioral expectations during non-instructional times such as class transitions, hallway, lunch, field trips, etc.
  • Lunch and recess duty
  • Attend selected professional development and faculty meetings, as determined by Head of School
  • Attend parent-teacher conferences selected and extracurricular events, as determined by Head of School in concert with lead teachers
  • Comply with state, school, and classroom rules and regulations
