Position Overview
We are looking for an experienced educator who shares our Christian classical commitments and has a background in science. The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic and thoughtful educator capable of guiding 4th and 5th grade students through hands-on lab experiments and a robust, well-designed curriculum. This candidate should be dynamic so as to engage grammar school students and inspire them to wonder and be curious about the world around them. Organization and planning skills are also essential in managing various supplies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
-Plan and energetically execute lesson plans to maximize student engagement.
-Receive mentoring from Science Department Chair and/or lead teacher regarding the implementation of existing science curriculum.
-Collaborate with lead teachers as needed on student concerns or occasional scheduling issues.
-Provide feedback about student progress in a timely and helpful manner
-Must enjoy and work well with upper elementary students.
-Model the qualities and attitude of a humble, lifelong learner
-Maintain a healthy, respectful classroom environment that promotes the virtuous pursuit of knowledge and truth

Requirements
-The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry and/or physics, and must have basic proficiency in Life, Physical and Earth Sciences. An advanced degree in science and at least 3 years of prior teaching experience with a preference for those familiar with the Christian classical model is a big plus but not absolutely required.
-Good interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
-Good organizational skills that lead to the careful planning and use of various science supplies in specific and detailed ways.
-Proven success in working collaboratively and communicating effectively with students, parents, and teachers.
-Alignment with our school’s statement of faith and commitment to the school’s mission, vision, and values.
