Description

Qualified candidates will have a bachelor’s degree, preferably in elementary education, along with a valid Texas state teaching certificate. Ideally, we are looking for someone with classroom experience and knowledge of Classical Christian and Charlotte Mason pedagogy.  Successful candidates should be mature Christians committed to lifelong learning and professional development, eager to nurture and inspire our students, and possess a desire to work with a dedicated staff of administrators and teachers.

This is a full-time, ten-month positions (exempt), reporting to the Grammar School Head.

Grammar School (E-5) teaching candidates should possess the following experience and expertise:

  • Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of and an interest in the subject(s) taught.
  • Integrates Charlotte Mason principles within lessons.
  • Maintains the student’s active interest in the lesson.
  • Uses clear language and vocabulary appropriate to the level of the students.
  • Explains and connects the unfamiliar with what is already familiar to the students.
  • Uses effective teaching techniques including narration.
  • Checks for comprehension and does not presume on the students’ understanding of new terms and concepts.
  • Frequently reviews and applies material learned.
  • Uses and applies classical method for the particular subject and grade level being taught.
  • Plans lessons in order to achieve curriculum goals and prepares and submits lesson plans in a timely manner for administrative review.

All Covenant teachers serve as pastors (shepherds) of our students, advising them in their walk with Jesus Christ.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher.
  • Proven track record of excellent teaching.
  • Experience or interest in classical education and traditional pedagogy.
  • Rhetorical excellence in the spoken and written word.
