Location: Lighthouse Christian Academy, Stevensville, MD
Position Type: Full-Time

Position Overview

Lighthouse Christian Academy is seeking a creative and Christ-centered Art Teacher who delights in cultivating beauty, imagination, and craftsmanship in students through the visual arts. The ideal candidate will inspire students to see art as a reflection of God’s truth, goodness, and beauty, and to develop skill and appreciation for artistic expression within a classical Christian framework.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach art to students across elementary and/or middle school grades, incorporating classical principles of beauty and aesthetics
    • Develop lessons that include art history, theory, technique, and hands-on projects
    • Integrate Biblical truths and a Christian worldview into art instruction
    • Guide students in developing fine motor skills, attention to detail, and creative expression
    • Promote an orderly, joyful classroom environment that encourages exploration and growth
    • Shepherd students spiritually through prayer, encouragement, and discipleship
    • Maintain a well-organized, inspiring, and functional art space
    • Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress
    • Participate fully in the life of the school—staff devotions, events, and faculty meetings

Qualifications

  • A mature and growing faith in Jesus Christ
    • Bachelor’s degree in art, education, or a related field
    • Passion for classical Christian education and the formative power of the arts
    • Experience in teaching art to children, preferably in a classical or Christian school
    • Strong classroom management and communication skills
    • Ability to inspire students toward excellence and joyful discovery
    • Eagerness to learn and grow within the Classical Christian tradition
    • Support for LCA’s mission, vision, and statement of faith
