Soccer Head Coach

Position Summary:

The Head Soccer Coach position is filled by someone who believes in and embodies our philosophy of education such that his or her coaching cultivates within students a love for the sport of track and field. The EHA Head Soccer Coach provides leadership in planning, implementation, coordination, supervision, and evaluation of the EHA soccer programs.

Position Reporting Responsibility:
This position is part-time and reports directly to the Athletic Director and in collaboration with the Administrative Team.

Position Requirements/Qualifications:
Anyone who is seeking this position at EHA must:
● Be in agreement with the EHA statement of faith
● Displays a strong personal faith in Jesus Christ
● Exude a passion for Christian urban education
● Be in agreement with EHA's philosophy of education and its core values
● Experience as a head coach and as a player
● First aid and CPR certification or eligibility for certification

Position Skills:
● Demonstration of strong leadership skills
● Coaching and mobilizing skills
● Basketball skills, including proper technique and strategy
● Conflict resolution
● Problem solving skills to support student success
● Service-related people skills
● Verbal and written communication skills

Position Work Schedule
● 8 to 12 weeks position ( End of August - End of October)
● 12-18 hour weeks depending on game/practice schedule
● Generally, practices will be held on Monday - Thursday and off most Fridays with the exception of some game days

Position Compensation
● The stipend for the position will depend on the amount of time and responsibility committed to. This can be discussed with the Athletic Director upon submission of application.

Position Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
● Supervision
o Supervise all practices and meets of the Soccer Team
o Supervise student athletes after school when at practices or when on the road to games
o Supervise the student athletes when waiting for pickup for rides home
● Planning
o In conjunction with the Athletic Director plan goals for the teams
o Create plans for individual skill development, team concepts, team drills, etc.
o Review athletic scheduling with AD to ensure you can attend and supervise all meets and practices
o Coordinate with AD to plan for athletic award ceremonies
● Transportation
o Coordinate and execute transportation for all soccer team travel, including travel dates, number traveling, and departure and return times
● Coach and Student Athlete Recruitment
o Assist athletic director in the selection of assistant coaches and volunteers
o Provide for orientation, direction, and training of assistant coaches
● Athletic Events
o Be present at all games and practices
o Work with the Athletic Director to coordinate duties for all soccer games, equipment manager, timekeeper, scorekeeper, bookkeeper, etc.
o Arrange for the availability of first aid kits at all practices and meets
o Encourage and instruct athletes, students, and fans in good sportsmanship
● Administrative Duties
o Report and document all athletic injuries.
o Make sure stat books are up to date and accurate
● Communication
o Conduct athlete, parent and coaches meetings as needed to address any concerns.
o Communicate issues with school athletic facilities, fields, and equipment to the Athletic Director.
o Work with coaches to make sure that all student athletes and parents know the rules and regulations.
o Promote and model good sportsmanship and maintain an active program that welcomes competing teams, guests, and game officials.
● Supplies, Equipment, and Uniforms
o Keep supplies, equipment, and uniforms in satisfactory condition, and communicate the need for new and replacement supplies, equipment, and uniforms when necessary.
o Inspect all athletic areas for cleanliness and the proper storage of all athletic supplies, equipment, and uniforms.
o Oversee the return of all equipment, unused supplies, and uniforms using a checklist at the end of the season.
