Description
Summary: This position has responsibility for up to five periods of classes containing up to 16 students each. The teacher is responsible for upper level Science instruction two to three days per week (Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday), for creating lesson plans and assignments based on blueprints, and for posting assignments to the school's online portal for parents to access. Candidates should be capable of teaching students in multiple Science classes across the upper school, ranging from 8th grade Physical Science to high school Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. Classical School of Dallas teaches science through the lens of a Christian, Biblical world-view and desires teachers to instill in our students a sense of wonder about God's magnificent created order. Previous Science teaching experience is preferred, especially experience with our curriculum of choice, Apologia. Curriculum and materials will be provided.
Position type: Part-time. 5 periods over Monday, Wednesday, and/or Thursday, plus additional preparation time as needed. Some training and in-service days are also required.
Start date: Classes begin August 25. Training for incoming teachers will take place August 4-8.
Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree; agreement with and support of the school's statement of faith; strong commitment to Christian education and the Classical Model of education.
Additional desirable qualifications: Teaching experience at a classical school, teaching certification, and/or advanced degree.
