Teaching Positions Available for 2024-2025:

Middle and High School Humanities Teacher

Holy Rosary Academy invites eligible candidates to apply for the opportunity to teach Humanities to 7th to 12th grade students in Anchorage, Alaska for the 2024-2025 school year.

 

Job Description

Candidates are expected to teach HRA’s Humanities curriculum, which is rich in History, Catholic Theology, Composition, and Classical Languages. All middle school students participate in Humanities classes. The right candidate will share their love of the great Western literary tradition, help mature the students’ intellects and writing capabilities, and guide students in understanding the tenets of the Catholic faith. 

 

Qualifications 

The successful candidate will: 

  • Possess at least a bachelor’s degree, preferably in the Liberal Arts
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ideally, have at least one year of teaching experience or practicum at a classical school
  • Be capable of teaching several subjects well
  • Effectively manage the classroom and relevant administrative tasks
  • Be a practicing Catholic and a good role model for the students 
  • Bonus qualification – possess a love for the outdoors and a sense of adventure! 

 

Responsibilities

  • Teach four core academic classes in math, history, theology, and Latin
  • Teach an enrichment course within your skillset, like chess, physical education, art, graphic design, etc.
  • Engage students in each subject, demonstrate the value of the Humanities in modern life, and invite the students to actively participate in Socratic discussions
  • Communicate effectively with parents, colleagues, staff, administrators, and board members
  • Act professionally at school and during all school functions
  • Prepare daily lesson plans and relevant exams

 

Additional Support

  • HRA recognizes the difficulty teachers experience while trying to find affordable housing in Anchorage. Therefore, we offer furnished, rent-controlled apartments on campus for eligible teachers. 

About Holy Rosary Academy:

Holy Rosary Academy (HRA) was founded in 1987 by parents to assist parents who are the primary educators of their children. We are the only Catholic classical school in Anchorage, Alaska, that teaches through the lens of the Trivium. Our pre-kindergarten to 12th-grade students have access to the Sacraments weekly to strengthen their faith.  We are proud to have been recognized as the best private high school in Alaska for two years by Niche. HRA is a place where faith and reason meet in the pursuit of excellence. 

The Academy is recognized as a Cardinal Newman School, a Theology of the Body Campus, and a member school of the Institute for Catholic Liberal Education.
