SLO Classical Academy is looking for a seasoned education professional to oversee a thriving learning environment for students and staff during our transition. Classical education inspires who we are and how we work! POSITION PURPOSE / JOB SUMMARY

The Interim High School Director is charged with temporary oversight of our high school program and thriving of the high school program and people in line with SLOCA’s classical mission and vision.  In collaboration with leadership and other SLOCA teams, the HS Director will continue to advance SLOCA HS growth initiatives.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • College degree required
  • Advanced degree in a field(s) related to the functions of the position preferred
  • 6+ years in educational leadership; oversight of HS preferred
  • Experience supervising and mentoring direct reports and teachers
  • Experience guiding the professional learning and development of educators

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

DAY-TO-DAY FOCUS

  • oversight, management and development of teachers/staff - including support, observations, job evaluation, disciplinary actions, regular team meetings and team building
  • ownership of HS budget
  • collaborate with staff to ensure policies and procedures are consistently followed
  • uphold our culture through student and family care to ensure stated student outcomes are achieved - social, emotional and academic
  • support family recruitment at all levels with particular focus on HS
  • support HS teacher recruitment as required

STRATEGIC GROWTH FOCUS

  • practical involvement with Leadership on HS expansion both academic and extracurricular
  • provide input on teacher training and development
  • work with leadership to strengthen HS curriculum, deepening classical methods and elements
  • actively support and participate in school wide events
  • support recruitment of long-term HS Director and other leadership positions

JOB STRUCTURE

  • Exempt Employee Status
  • Full-time desired; open to part-time for the right person
  • Expected timeline: July 2023-June 2024
  • Reports to the Executive Visionary Director
  • Oversees HS Teachers, Student Life Director, Assistant to HS Director
  • Serves on the Broader Leadership Team and Education Leadership Team

COMPENSATION

$40K-$80K based on PT/FT status and experience; paid time off, benefits, tuition discount
