Description

Bloomfield Christian School (BCS) seeks a Humane Letters teacher for grades 7-12. Ideally, this candidate would have a strong historical orientation and strength in American studies, the Constitution, and political philosophy broadly considered.  BCS is in the leafy and beautiful suburbs of Bloomfield Hills (suburban Detroit).  We desire to build a staff of talented, experienced, and Christ-exalting teachers to equip our students to become holy and humble disciples of Christ, skilled scholars in language and number, and responsible and courageous citizens of the Kingdom of God and man.  The teacher-candidate will possess at least a bachelor’s degree and preferably graduate training, but more importantly a contagious and substantiated love of Christ, an appetite for continuous and skillful learning, a joyful and mature disposition, an ability to be sufficiently detail-oriented, and an ability to work collegially with peers and parents, the latter being the primary influences in their children’s Christian formation.  A demonstrated love of the liberal arts tradition, especially Natural Philosophy and History, and proven skill in teaching and ministering to students of this age are preferred qualities. The candidate should be excited to teach within the doctrinal parameters of the historic Protestantism, i.e. Three Forms, WCF, LB1689, 39 Articles, Book of Concord, etc.

The teacher would receive initial and ongoing training and evaluation from an experienced and talented administrative team with ample experience.  Additionally, there is a warm, collegial, and supportive environment among fellow teachers. This position is a full-time, salaried position with a start date of July 1, 2025.  It includes provision for health care benefits, continuing education, a laptop computer and related technology, and paid sick and personal time.  It is the standard expectation of all staff that they will attend ACCS or SCL (when appropriate) training each year, with expenses funded by the school.  Additional training as directed by the school’s leadership, would be funded as well.  We require background checks and fingerprints for all employees and volunteers.

Please email Mrs. Nicole Ihrie, Assistant to the Head of School, for an application.  Please include a cover letter and CV/Resume with your request.
