Veritas Classical Academy exists to educate the minds and inspire the hearts of young people through a content rich, classical curriculum that emphasizes the principles of moral character and civic responsibility. By intentionally fostering a culture of intrinsic wellness, we prepare our students to become the healthy, virtuous and authentic foundation of future American generations.


Veritas Classical Academy, Inc. (VCA) is in its planning year, expecting to open in the fall of 2025. VCA is a classical, non-tuition based, public charter school that will initially serve K-5 in the first year of operations. The school plans to expand one grade per year until 8th grade, then open a full high school. Operating under the direction of the headmaster and diligent governance of its board of directors, VCA’s liberal arts and sciences curriculum is developed with support from Hillsdale College, a leader in classical learning since 1844.

In addition to the classical curriculum, VCA also places an emphasis on individual wellness and leverages select aspects of the Finnish education system. These foundational concepts were intentionally chosen to provide a high quality and challenging education that also encourages character development. At VCA, academic achievement, personal discipline, ethics, and responsibility will be consistently reinforced through the study of subjects in the classical tradition.

Role of the Headmaster:

The Veritas Classical Academy Headmaster will serve as the Executive Director of the non-profit entity and execute the responsibilities of that role. He or she will be entrusted to help form and maintain our school in regards to culture, leadership, academics, and the personal well-being of our staff and students. The school leader will be the public face of the school and will be responsible for the overall reputation of the school, its constituency, and community outreach. He or she will be required to ethically handle all fiduciary duties. We believe the school leader is the most impactful figure in a school and its surrounding community – the guardian of learning through truth, wisdom and virtue.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage all school operations, including academic, financial, personnel, regulatory and facility areas
  • Observe and effectively coach teachers at defined intervals, documents results, and provides feedback as a mentor and supervisor
  • Provide regular reports to school board on the status of the school and plans for upcoming activities
  • Represent the school as the senior executive leader in interactions with the public, the school constituencies, the authorizer, and other government agencies

Knowledge, Aptitude and Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum of a master’s degree in Educational Administration or related field
  • Certified by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction or state with reciprocity agreement as Principal PreK-12 (5051) or teacher Certification eligibility through the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction
  • Three years of teaching experience
  • School leadership experience including management and administration
  • A person of high moral character whose leadership will generate trust and hold the confidence of others
  • Well-organized, able to delegate with clear direction and ready to assume responsibility for everything that happens under his or her charge
  • A demonstrated comprehension of the classical liberal arts and their roots in the Western tradition
  • Firm understanding of and past experience with administering a classical curriculum
  • Commitment to carry out the mission in alignment with the vision of VCA
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of energy and personal productivity to effectively manage the yield of others
  • A proven proficiency in personnel management principles including recruiting, hiring, supervising, and evaluating, as well as individual and organizational development
  • A general understanding of financial management principles, including sound fiscal controls and processes, planning and adhering to a budget, and regular auditing
  • A competent grasp of the state’s accountability systems for public charter schools and laws relevant to the same, including local, state and federal compliance
  • The fortitude to act with fidelity to the scope and sequence of the Hillsdale K-12 model for classical education.
  • Familiarity with or openness to the Finnish education system

Additional Favorable Experiences:

  • Familiarity with Special Education program requirements and implementation
  • Demonstrated ability to leverage appropriate community resources for students and families
