Description
Sager Classical Academy is now searching for the right leader for this exciting and critical season. We are looking for a Head of School who can:
Provide Christ-centered, Biblically-directed, spiritual leadership to faculty, staff, and families.
Offer visionary leadership for the future of the school and motivate others to unite in pursuit of the school’s mission.
Build a healthy and cohesive administrative leadership team that is marked by trust, clarity, communication, and accountability.
Monitor school culture to ensure it aligns with the mission and vision of SCA.
Execute the strategic plan developed in conjunction with the Board.
Manage the school’s finances to ensure long-term stability and growth.
Cultivate a healthy board relationship and effective partnership.
Pursue his or her own professional development, especially in the areas of leadership and the classical Christian educational model.
Develop and oversee hiring practices and employee training, supervision, and accountability.
Monitor and review students’ academic and spiritual progress.
Develop and monitor operational policies and procedures.
The Challenge Before Us
Communicate a clear vision for and philosophy of classical Christian education both within the school to faculty and parents as well as to the local community.
Create a strong Upper School with vigorous academics and extracurricular options.
Continue an intellectual and joyful culture where students enjoy learning, where teachers are life-long learners, and where parents want to learn what their students are learning.
Cultivate an active donor community to support scholarships, co-curricular opportunities, and future facilities.
Cast a vision for a future permanent campus—first, long-term agreements with local facilities that allow for freedom and care for teachers and second, a vision for an SCA campus.
Other Duties
Attend conferences selected to improve ability in leadership and knowledge of this model of schooling.
Ensure school’s compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Faculty & Staff Management
Model Biblical principles of leadership in his/her relationships with and treatment of the faculty and staff.
Develop and maintain programs for professional growth and development for administrators and staff, including regular feedback.
Work with the Deans to recruit, hire, and supervise SCA staff.
Academic Oversight
Plan and organize strategies for keeping current with educational innovation and improvement in line with the school’s mission.
Review annual academic performance (standardized tests, etc.) in order to improve curriculum and instructional strategies for the school.
Articulate a Christian (Biblical) philosophy of education and implement this philosophy at all levels of the school.
Student Relations
Ensure positive and productive spiritual and educational development of students.
Board Relations
Act as representative of faculty, staff, and families to the Board.
Meet regularly with the Board, preparing and presenting reports as requested.
Collaborate with the Board to carry out established school policies, regularly reviewing these policies and recommending improvements.
Supervise the preparation of a balanced budget to submit to the Board for review and approval.
Execute the strategic vision set by the Board.
Donor Relations
Cultivate and steward donor relationships to include a culture of generosity with parents in the school.
Qualifications
Professes the Christian faith according to the SCA statement of faith and is an active member of a church community.
Models Christian virtue in both word and deed.
Recognizes the role of parents as primarily responsible before God for their children’s education and is prepared to assist them in that task.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, both one-on-one and in front of an audience.
Ability to quickly establish rapport and work well with others.
Demonstrated ability to make thoughtful decisions and to do so quickly when needed.
Ability to spiritually lead others and demonstrate the fruit of the Spirit.
Ability to quickly and efficiently find solutions to problems and diffuse difficult situations.
Strong organizational skills.
Proven ability to work with little supervisory direction.
Extensive knowledge of classical, Christian education, with experience in collaborative/University-Model preferred.
Demonstrated ability to develop and manage a budget.
Required Education & Experience
Master’s degree or higher.
2+ years experience in a classical, Christian school.
3+ years experience in school administration/in a senior leadership capacity.
Preferred Education & Experience
5+ years experience in a classical, Christian, collaborative/University-Model School.
2+ years experience as Head of School/CEO or similar role.
