Company Information
Hunter Classical Christian School was founded in 2010 under the vision and leadership of Dr. Ann McLean. Hunter was named for her father, Dr. James G. Hunter, whose character and life are an inspiration. Hunter opened its doors in 2012 to 26 students on the beautiful grounds of Dover Baptist Church in Manakin Sabot, Virginia. Through the intervening years, Hunter has faithfully served students and families and outgrew its home in its 9th year.
Hunter moved nine miles east of its original campus to Derbyshire Baptist Church in Henrico County in the summer of 2021. The opening of the Logic School, named for the second stage of the Trivium, which serves students in the 6th through 8th grades, coincided with the move to Derbyshire Baptist Church. We welcomed Mr. Jeff Brown as headmaster this same summer.
In the 2022-23 school year, our school enrollment doubled from 56 students before our move from Manakin Sabot to 115 students in our second year located at Derbyshire. In the 2023-24 school year, Hunter expanded to a second campus location at Parham Road Baptist Church to house the growing Logic School.
The Board of Directors approved a K-12 vision for the school, codified our affiliation with the Anglican School Association, began our journey toward accreditation through the Association of Classical Christian Schools (ACCS), and amended the strategic plan to include provisions for a Rhetoric School (high school).
We expectantly look to the next chapter of our story and anticipate what the Lord will do through the lives of our students and families in the years to come. We invite you to be a part of this story as we build our future!
